Our client is one of the leading Building and Civil Engineering Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland.

They are now seeking to recruit an experienced Bid Manager to join their Construction team in their North West Office.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Bid Director, the role of Bid Manager is strategic whilst providing direction to the bidding team. Working on a variety of tenders at one time, the Bid Manager will manage the team encouraging the best bid response in all areas. You will lead from the front and by example and take responsibility for client and client team engagement.

As Bid Manager, you will also be responsible for the following key tasks:

  1. Manage a programme of projects in the Pre-Construction phase.
  2. Agree the Bid Win Strategy with the Pre-Construction Director and Bid Director.
  3. Develop a Bid programme.
  4. Organise, chair, and attend tender progress meetings, both internal and external.
  5. Develop a thorough understanding of potential risks and opportunities and ensure the team addresses them respectively.
  6. Ensure contract documents are thoroughly reviewed and collaborate with Commercial and Estimating teams to understand and agree tender position.
  7. Ensure AFL, URD, FRP or other Tenant/Employer documents are adequately reflected/captured in the design.
  8. Research and gain a wider understanding of a scheme.
  9. Maintain excellent working relationships with the Client.
  10. Key Account Management.
  11. Assist with Business Development activities as required.
  12. Travel as appropriate throughout the UK.

Qualifications

  1. Preferably degree or equivalent construction or design qualification.
  2. A background in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Project Management is preferred.

Experience

  1. Previous experience in a similar role.
  2. Defence sector experience is essential.
  3. Existing Security Clearance that could be transferable is highly preferred.
  4. Experience of delivering projects to JSP requirements.
  5. Working with different forms of building contract including JCT, NEC and bespoke.
  6. Understanding of two-stage, single stage and negotiated tendering.
  7. Confident communicating with colleagues and senior members of management.
  8. The ability to work to tight deadlines.
  9. Accuracy and attention to detail.
  10. Flexibility in approach.
  11. Strong team ethic.
