If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Foot Anstey, a dynamic and ambitious UK law firm, as a Test Engineer. You will play a pivotal role in the testing lifecycle, with responsibilities spanning manual and automated testing, root cause analysis, data interrogation, and presenting results to stakeholders at all levels. You will also be an advocate for continuous improvement, adopting and appraising new tools and processes to enhance testing practices. The role will require you to work in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including project, training, adoption, and IT support teams, ensuring that technical changes adhere to delivery methodologies, testing standards, and deployment controls.This role will require you to be located close to Plymouth, Exeter, or Bristol as we will require you to come into the office 2 x days per week, or when required.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be at the heart of our testing lifecycle, ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our technical solutions. Working alongside developers, project teams, and IT support, you will:
- Champion Agile Testing Principles – Embed quality from the start by promoting Agile testing practices, encouraging collaboration, and ensuring testability across the development lifecycle.
- Test Across the Spectrum – Execute functional, non-functional, exploratory, and end-to-end testing.
- Combine Manual & Automation Testing – Perform regression testing manually and through automation.
- Analyse & Report – Investigate defects, validate data, and present results to stakeholders.
- Enhance Quality Standards – Advocate for continuous improvement, exploring new tools and methodologies.
- Support CI/CD Processes – Contribute to the continuous integration and delivery pipeline by integrating automated tests and improving test efficiency within deployment workflows.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams – Work closely with developers, project managers, and business users to ensure smooth, high-quality releases.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from candidates with either experience in test automation or a strong desire to develop these skills. Our ideal candidate will have:
- Testing Fundamentals – Strong understanding of balancing manual and automated testing.
- Automation Skills – Experience with (or willingness to learn) test automation tools like Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium, using TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Agile & DevOps Knowledge – Familiarity with Agile/SCRUM and experience using Azure DevOps for defect tracking and CI/CD integration.
- Data & API Testing – SQL or similar database skills for validating data and an understanding of API testing (e.g., Postman, Rest-Assured).
- ISTQB Certification – Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) v4.0 or a willingness to obtain it.

- Exposure to Azure DevOps – Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and test management within Azure DevOps.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform & Dynamics 365.
- Knowledge of CX365 (Peppermint CX365) or similar CRM systems.
- Exposure to non-functional testing – Performance, Accessibility, Security testing.
- API Testing Skills – Experience with tools such as Postman or Rest-Assured.
- Understanding of Shift-Left testing principles.
