Primary Responsibilities:

The Principal Marine Engineer will be responsible for the specification, design, and integration of primary onboard systems for my client’s portfolio of vessels ranging from 2-20m. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Systems specification for primary onboard systems, including:
  • Propulsion
  • Bilge
  • Fire
  • Hydraulics
  • HVAC
  • Cable and piping routing in Siemens NX master GA
  • Development and maintenance of primary equipment lists
  • Creation of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Contribution to Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Bill of Materials (BOM)

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Proven experience in maritime systems design and integration across the specified systems.
  • Recent experience with Siemens NX for system modelling, including production information.
  • Experience liaising with relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to collaborate with shipyard shop floor teams to implement design changes and updates.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Experience with 3D CAD modelling in Siemens NX.
  • Knowledge of electrical design.
  • Familiarity with Teamcenter PDM.
  • Understanding of configuration control.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.
