Job Description

The Digital Serialisation program is a key Strategic initiative for Brambles. As a PLC Engineer, you’ll be a key member of the team in delivering the technologies and solutions required for this initiative to be achievable. The role will involve direct integration support, PLC software programming & modifications for new technologies being implemented. The equipment within our Service centres (Plant Operations) will include QR cameras and integrating them with our existing lines.

The role will be aligned closely with the project Senior Controls Engineer who will maintain governance for the software changes.

The role will require knowledge of Ladder Logic as a minimum or Allen Bradley software. This is a hybrid remote position where you’ll be able to work from home but will need flexibility to travel to sites as this role is the “boots on the ground”. With the nature of project installations, this role will also require some flexibility of working hours – any time worked over weekends will be given in lieu.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop PLC code and controls solutions required to integrate new technology into existing automated lines.
  • Provide solutions for the required data and interfaces for successful operation of equipment.
  • Ensure accurate data transfers to SCADA and Cloud servers.
  • Vertical start-up of all installations. Commissioning targets met on time.
  • Training of operators and technicians on SCADA and PLC systems.
  • Provide on-site programming and controls support when required to deliver projects.
  • Ensure suppliers adhere to the PLC and Controls standards required and provide support and coaching to suppliers when required.

What you’ll need

  • Ladder Logic or Allen Bradley PLC programming experience.
  • Integration of vision equipment into PLC systems.
  • Integration of PLC with SCADA.
  • Data transfer between PLC and SQL/Cloud Server.
  • Ethernet Communication architecture and protocols.

Preferred Education

Bachelors – Electrical Engineering, Diploma – Electrical Engineering.

Preferred Level of Work Experience

3 – 5 years.
