Job Description

Job Purpose:\\nThe Teaching Assistant will work alongside the class teacher to support the education and development of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role involves providing tailored support to individual students or small groups, helping to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment, and assisting in the personal and academic development of students.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities:\\nSupport for Learning:\\n\\nAssist in the delivery of lessons, ensuring that students are engaged and learning effectively.\\nProvide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them with tasks, instructions, and ensuring they understand the lesson content.\\nSupport the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.\\nClassroom Management:\\n\\nHelp to maintain a positive and structured classroom environment.\\nManage classroom behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policies.\\nEncourage students to take part in class activities and offer additional support when needed.\\nPersonal Care and Well-being Support:\\n\\nProvide personal care support for students, including assistance with mobility, feeding, or any other specific care requirements.\\nEnsure the health and safety of all students, reporting any concerns to the relevant staff members.\\nCollaboration with Teachers and Staff:\\n\\nWork closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor the progress of students and adjust support strategies as needed.\\nAssist in setting up learning resources and materials.\\nTake part in meetings and professional development activities to support continuous improvement in practice.\\nMonitoring and Reporting:\\n\\nAssist in the monitoring of student progress and provide feedback to the teacher on student's achievements.\\nKeep records of student's progress and help with assessments as required.\\nProfessional Development:\\n\\nAttend relevant training and development opportunities.\\nStay informed about best practices in supporting students with SEN.\\nPerson Specification:\\nEssential Skills and Experience:\\nExperience working with children or young people, especially those with special educational needs.\\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills.\\nEmpathy and patience.\\nAbility to work as part of a team and independently.\\nDesirable Qualifications:\\nA Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) or equivalent (desirable but not essential).\\nTraining in SEN or relevant experience in a similar role.\\nSafeguarding:\\nThe successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and will need to adhere to the school's safeguarding policies to ensure the safety and well-being of the students
