if so, we are looking for two enthusiastic and engaging Team Leaders to join our Centre of International Trade Team (CIT).

You will join a friendly and supportive team, working in a fast-paced and reactive environment where the tasks are varied. Your responsibilities will include embedding new administrative processes and procedures, as well as managing your team and guiding them through periods of change. You will oversee the team’s performance, collaborating closely and supportively with colleagues and peers. Additionally, you will contribute to regular office management meetings and work alongside DEFRA policy colleagues on various projects related to your area. You will also be responsible for managing expenditure and monitoring resources against plans and budgets, identifying and highlighting any variances as necessary.

We have two unique opportunities for team leaders to join us within the Centre for international Trade (CIT) team.

Compliance and Enforcement of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) – Team Leader:

You will be part of a team specifically set up to manage compliance with the CITES trade in the CIT.

The compliance work will be specifically around illegal wildlife trade on endangered species as well as the management of compliance with the ‘Schedule 4 bird’ registrations.

You will be responsible for managing a team of compliance officers tasked with handling incoming compliance referrals from various sources and inputting information into a case management system.

This team will be expected to conduct low level investigations on any submitted cases that do not meet the requirements and to refer cases for further investigation as needed Your role will be to triage and manage this work area. Additionally, you will work closely with policy and enforcement partners to maintain databases.

Centre for International Trade network – Team Leader.

You will act as a leader of the Centre for International Trade network, working collaboratively to prioritise, allocate and deliver transactional functions effectively, specific to the business unit.

This involves leading a team to ensure processes and procedures are followed to meet team targets and wider customer, business and regulatory requirements.

Your responsibilities will include leading a team within the Centre for International Trade which is responsible for a wide variety of work areas to allow the import and export of animals, plants, animal products and plant products to and from the UK.
