Our Client is a very successful Pharmaceutical manufacturing company. They are now seeking a Procurement Manager Pharmaceutical Raw Materials . This position will be based near Bedford with the opportunity of hybrid working (Three Days in the office and two days working at home). It is a full-time permanent role.

Job Purpose

  • To manage the procurement of Raw Materials for the Pharmaceutical manufacturing site, and also for third party finished goods manufacturers in the Purchasing and Supply team.
  • To ensure continuity of supply and understanding of the raw material marketplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a supplier base for raw materials to ensure minimum supply chain risk and best overall cost of supply, with due consideration for quality and favourable terms and conditions.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to ensure long term continuity of supply.
  • Drive cost savings and efficiencies in the procurement of raw materials.
  • Introduce potential new suppliers.
  • Maintain the Company ERP system with respect to raw materials.
  • Maintain optimum stock levels of raw materials to meet finished product production planning requirements.
  • Liaise with raw material suppliers regarding quality issues, leading to the satisfactory resolution of such issues and ensuring the building and maintaining of long-term supplier relationships.
  • Plan and co-ordinate activities within the Raw Materials team.
  • Delegate tasks and supervise the Raw Materials Inventory Planner Buyer.
  • Ensure that the Raw Materials team works in an ethical manner and avoids potential conflict of interest.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Relevant experience purchasing chemicals/raw materials in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • A good, clear communicator with strong negotiation, problem-solving, research, and analytical skills.
  • Supplier management experience.
  • Experience with ERP-based purchasing systems.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Self-motivated and commercially astute.
  • Strong attention to detail.
