The North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS) is one of the largest ambulance services in the country providing 999 emergency response, non-emergency patient transport services, 111 services and emergency planning and resilience for seven million people across 5400 square miles.
The Trust currently has a Procurement Officer Apprentice post available within the existing Procurement team;this is a truly challenging and rare opportunity for the right individual to provide a high-quality level of support and administration for all the day-to-day Purchasing requirements of the Trust.
The successful candidate will be required to provide procurement advice to internal customers within the Trust, communicating effectively with staff at all levels;they must be confident and tolerant of dealing with queries from internal customers by phone, email or face to face.
The candidatewill play a key role in the effective delivery of a portfolio of projects across a wide range of categories both clinical and non-clinical, using best practice tools and techniques to achieve contract compliance, cost reductions and savings whilst ensuring continuous improvement in quality.
The successful candidate must have competent administration and computer literacy skills, an organised approach to work and attention to detail when using the Trust system(s). The ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines to deliver results is essential. Experience of working within a procurement environment will be an advantage as well as an understanding of public sector procurement legislation.
It is expected that the candidate will have strong, effective team and analytical skills, be able to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive change as we look to continually optimise e-procurement systems and increase the scope of the Trusts internal supply chain, logistics and stores (materials management).
The role requires working from Ladybridge Hall, Bolton and Home location with flexibility to meet the demands of the role and department, this will be discussed at interview stage. Free onsite parking is available at Ladybridge Hall.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake and complete the Procurement and Supply Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
