Business Intelligence Analyst activities including providing front-line support of business applications in addition to extracting, manipulating, analysing and delivering data and information. The position will require strong communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills with a focus on service and support. This is a rare opportunity to re-design our complete reporting platform from the ground up using a greenfield approach to provide quality, fit-for-purpose BI solutions that enable effective, data-driven business decisions to be made.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The focus of this role will be on providing user application support and data mining and analysis support to users.
- Basic ERP/MRP system support for users.
- Data mining and analysis using SQL and/or other tools as required e.g. PowerBI and Tableau.
- Provide user training and/or coaching related to the use of business applications.
- Excel based, VBA scripted data manipulation and extraction/load design and support.
- Produce and maintain an enterprise wide data model and related data dictionaries.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience working in a similar role in a professional/corporate environment.
- Microsoft BI technology stack experience – T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS.
- Basic Report Writing and Dashboard Design (SSRS and Crystal Reports).
- Database development (complex SQL queries, stored procedures, user-defined functions, table design and performance optimisation).
- Solid understanding of the development to production deployment process.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel including VBA (preferably utilising class based development).
- Basic understanding of ERP and warehouse management transaction lifecycle.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to formulate and communicate recommendations for improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, as well as the ability to present and explain technical information in a way that can be fully understood by a non-technical audience.
- Ability to work independently, to deadlines and under pressure and to prioritise work effectively whilst managing the expectations for delivery of end users.
Desirable
- Redgate or TFS based source control setup and management.
- Documentation and change management control.
- PowerBI or Tableau dashboard design and management.
- An understanding of ETL process design, delivery and management.
- Data Warehousing (Kimball) / Master Data Management.
- MCP in Querying SQL Server 2012 (70-461) – with a view to completion of the MCSA: SQL Server 2012/2014 programme.
- Any experience (including non-professional) of data visualisation / analysis / statistical modelling/ SQL 2016.
- Any experience (including non-professional) of virtualisation, disaster recovery, backups etc.
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to travel occasionally (UK only).
- Must be flexible to work additional hours when required e.g. out of hours system maintenance.
