Freight Export Team Leader

Our client is a major player in the Global Freight Forwarding market. They are now looking for a Freight Forwarding Export Team Leader to be based in their office in Leeds. This is a very exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a massive blue-chip organisation with progression.

Role Responsibilities

1. Lead a team of 6 in the Air and Ocean Freight department reporting to the Branch Manager.
2. Manage the Air and Sea freight department, planning the day-to-day work of the Operations and Customer Service teams.
3. Handle the end-to-end processes in the Export Department.
4. Drive performance of AFR & OFR teams, providing leadership across areas of responsibility and inspiring people to engage with the business to deliver key results.
5. Ensure file level GP, cost allocation, and operations controls are delivered through empowerment of your teams.
6. Support KPI achievements and oversee team performance, guiding them through performance reviews and evaluations.

Skills & Qualifications:

1. Proven track record of leading a team.
2. Ability to inspire and motivate team members.
3. Ocean Freight Export experience with a good knowledge of Air & Ocean Freight processes and systems.
4. Proven ability to identify and meet customer service needs in a professional and friendly manner.
5. Experience in delivering and reporting back to Managers on data/business performance as requested.
6. Knowledge of Freight Forwarding industry, exports, imports, and customs related processes.
7. Interpersonal skills, including influencing, communication, relationship management, cultural awareness, and ability to work across teams.
8. Clear and concise communication skills, both written and spoken.
9. Experience with HMRC processes for Imports and Exports.
10. Commercial awareness.
