About The Role

This is an exciting time to join us as The Workdry Group has seen enormous growth over recent years. Due to this we are pleased to be adding an additional role of Group Legal Counsel based at our Head Office in Chandlers Ford.

As Group Legal Counsel, you’ll help to provide expert legal advice and guidance to the Workdry Group on a wide range of legal matters. You’ll be responsible for identifying and mitigating legal risks, drafting and reviewing legal agreements, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

This role would be perfect for someone with law firm experience who is looking to move in-house. If you’re looking to move into a new role this would be an ideal opportunity to develop further and showcase your experience in our first Workdry Group legal position.

As Group Legal Counsel, You’ll Get To

  1. Provide legal advice and guidance to colleagues up to and including Executive Leadership level, on a variety of legal areas including commercial contracts, framework agreements, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property.
  2. Offer practical and commercially focused legal advice on a range of business issues.
  3. Ensure the Workdry Group is compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  4. Protect the business commercially and contractually, taking a pragmatic approach and considering the best interests of the business, seeking opportunities for continual improvement in all business dealings.
  5. Draft, review and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents maximizing the commercial opportunities of the business and minimizing corporate risk and exposure.
  6. Interpret laws, and where necessary communicate and advise on their impact to the business.
  7. Provide expert analysis on complex legal issues, using a proactive approach to highlight areas of improvement.
  8. Evaluate legal risk factors regarding business decisions and Workdry Group operations.
  9. Draft and review legal policies and procedures, contribute to internal governance policies and regularly monitor the businesses compliance with these.
  10. Proactively seek out and work with stakeholders to identify areas of business operations where value can be added through expert legal guidance and support.

About You

The personal behaviours, skills & experience we’re looking for:

  1. Qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales.
  2. Ideally 5+ years PQE in Commercial and/or Corporate law or significant practical experience, preferably gained within a large or top-tier law firm.
  3. Strong knowledge of UK laws and regulations, particularly in the areas of contracts, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. Knowledge of EU and international laws and regulations would be beneficial, but not essential.
  4. Good commercial and legal judgement.
  5. Ability to couple expert legal knowledge with practical business acumen.
  6. Understanding of the contractual framework surrounding projects within the UK utilities market preferred but not essential, including experience of agreements based on industry standards.
  7. A broad base of generalist commercial experience and knowledge.
  8. Demonstrated ability to create legal defensive or proactive strategies.
  9. Experience of managing outside counsel and overseeing litigation matters.
  10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  11. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  12. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to convey complex legal information in a way that stakeholders, internal and external, understand.
  13. Strong attention to detail.
  14. Ability to handle a diverse range of issues, deal with new or unexpected situations and work under pressure.
  15. Pro-active approach to identifying and implementing effective and efficient ways of working, with the ability to manage a practical balance between business and legal objectives.
  16. The ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
