With the demand for fire and security professionals increasing across the UK and worldwide, this apprenticeship offers excellent long-term job security and room for growth both in the UK and abroad. This is a field-based role with classroom training as part of a bespoke Protec academy once every 8 weeks on a block release system.
Duties Include, But Are Not Exclusive To
- Working alongside an experienced engineer, or team of engineers, to learn and develop essential skills in installation, maintenance, servicing, and fault-finding on various systems within the industry.
- Repair of fire and security systems.
- Commissioning and programming of fire and security systems.
- Gaining hands-on experience while building a strong foundation in the fire and security industry.
- Learning to work efficiently within a team while meeting tight deadlines.
- Developing a thorough understanding of industry standards and best practices.
Entry Requirements
- Based in Birmingham or the surrounding area, this role covers the midlands.
- A full, clean UK driver's license would be preferred - a strong candidate without a driver's license would still be considered if you can commit to obtaining one as soon as possible during the apprenticeship.
- Must be able to pass a full, enhanced DBS background check.
- Experience with power tools and/or electrics would be advantageous.
- Must be honest, with excellent customer service and a positive attitude.
Training Provided By Protec Includes
- Working alongside an experienced engineer to learn the fundamentals of installation, maintenance, servicing, and fault-finding.
- Gaining hands-on experience and developing industry knowledge across all sectors.
- Gaining exposure to real projects, developing practical and technical skills.
- Learning about industry regulations and competencies needed and health & safety requirements.
- Opportunities for growth such as Project Management, Design, and Sales.

- Salary for this role starts at £15,704 but is negotiable based on experience.
- The standard working hours for this role is 40 hours per week, with the option for overtime on top of this.
- Training for this role is part of Protec's academy in Warrington - all travel costs will be paid for.
