Here at the Mick George Group we are recruiting a Site Manager to join the team at our Waste Transfer Station.
Location: St Ives, Cambridgeshire
Pay: Dependent on experience, to be discussed at an interview.

The ideal candidate for this position will have previous experience as a Site Manager in the waste industry. Work well independently and within a team, building great rapport with site staff and key stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities:
- To oversee the day to day running of the Waste Transfer Site ensuring maximum productivity and reducing the quantity of waste being sent to landfill.
- Liaise with the Area Manager to ensure site has enough operatives available each day, to ensure all tasks are completed to a satisfactory standard.
- Keep an accurate record and review of staff timesheets and booked holidays before submitting to the area manager.
- Carry out Ad-hoc duties as requested from the Area Manager.
- Monitor the site training matrix to make sure all staff\’s training is up to date, taking note of any deficiencies to send to the Training Manager.
- Conduct regular training exercises including toolbox talks.
- Make sure all staff have been briefed of their plant inspections/cleaning responsibilities.
- Ensure any plant defects are reported to the Mick George Workshop, and the item taken out of service until deemed safe for use.
- Ensure all site environmental and Health & Safety requirements are upheld.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure site compliance with planning/permit regulations.
- Ensure all records required by Statutory Regulation and Company Procedures are in place on site and updated.
- Maintain rapport with other Mick George departments such as SHEQ, Transport and Employee Services.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer Literate
- Previous Supervisor/Management experience within the waste industry
- Knowledge of current Health & Safety Legislation
- A proactive team member, ability to be methodical and flexible with tasks
- WAMITAB CoTC Level 4 in Waste Management Operations – Landfill (4MLH), Transfer (4TSH) & treatment (4TMH) with continuing competence essential.
