We are seeking a Trust Specialty Registrar in Neurosurgery. This contract is for 6 months with the potential to extend for 12 months. The possibility of extension beyond this period is likely to be provided if progress is satisfactory. All applicants must be in possession of the essential qualifications for the post, as set out in the person specification, by the closing date.
Main duties of the job
The South West Neurosurgery Centre is based at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. The Unit is a Major Trauma Centre and provides a comprehensive Neurosurgical Service to the population of Devon and Cornwall. The population of this area is approximately 1.8 million, but rises considerably during the summer months, with the influx of visitors from other parts of the U.K. and from abroad. Close links exist with the District General Hospitals situated in Truro, Barnstaple, Exeter, and Torbay. The post provides excellent experience for aspiring neurosurgical trainees.

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Successful completion of MRCS or equivalent at time of application
Education

- Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/ Good Medical Practice including: 1) Good clinical care. 2) Maintaining good medical practice. 3) Good relationships and communication with patients. 4) Good working relationships with colleagues. 5) Good teaching and training. 6) Professional behaviour and probity. 7) Delivery of good acute clinical care
- Evidence of achievement of CT/ST1 competences in neurosurgery at time of appointment & projected completion of CT/ST2 competences in neurosurgery by time of appointment
