Our machines have an outstanding reputation for assisting customers in filling sensitive, delicate and difficult to handle products and we support our customers with excellent after sales service. Privately owned, we are a successful part of a successful group of companies and have been established for over 80 years. We are now looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. Working as a member of the design team you will support the sales engineers & project manage new designs from concept to completion involving customer site evaluation where necessary. You will create concepts, sketches, mock-ups, detailed manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models as required. You will apply your engineering knowledge of constraints to designs to ensure they are produced to customer specifications and meet all necessary manufacturing guidelines. You will be willing to work hands-on, when required, with the production team to help meet customer requirements and on the development of new products. You will create new and refine existing manufacturing drawings ensuring conformity to the required Health & Safety standards for the relevant industry directives as well as producing BOMs, technical documentation / specifications and manufacturing/installation/operating instructions as required. The following skills/experience are necessary: – * Engineering based Degree or equivalent HNC/HND. * Demonstrable experience in a similar mechanical design role within a bespoke machinery building environment. * Use of 2D and 3D CAD packages in production environment (AutoCAD, CREO or SolidWorks). * Building & Fault-finding pneumatic control circuits. * Dealing directly with in-house manufacturing, external suppliers, and customers. * Preparing technical specifications and presenting proposals. * Preparing BOM’s, User Manuals and technical documentation. The following skills/experience is desirable: – * Experience in design of machinery for food industry * Designing and Specifying Pneumatic circuits * Design of conveyor systems * Experience in Using PDM or Vault document control * Understanding of Hydraulic and Electrical control systems. This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week. The position is based at head office in Nelson, Lancashire
