Tenancy Set-Up and Resettlement Officer – Housing Options (12 months)
Tower Hamlets Council is looking for a Tenancy Set-Up and Resettlement Officer to support homeless households as they move into private rented sector (PRS) accommodation. This role ensures that new tenants successfully settle into their homes, reducing the risk of tenancy breakdown and repeat homelessness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support tenants in setting up their new homes, including rent payments, utilities, and council tax.
- Ensure all households have viable rent payment arrangements and provide basic budgeting advice.
- Act as the main point of contact for landlords regarding initial rental payments and tenancy queries.
- Mediate and resolve early tenancy issues, preventing homelessness and sustaining placements.
- Work with partners such as the DWP, housing benefits, and support services to ensure successful tenancies.
- Maintain accurate casework records and provide reports on service outcomes.
About You:
We are looking for a proactive individual with:
- Strong knowledge of tenancy law, welfare benefits, and budgeting.
- Experience supporting vulnerable households and managing housing casework.
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with landlords, internal teams, and external agencies.
