In 2012 the group expanded its international presence by opening a plant in Selby, UK.Role Purpose We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Environmental Advisor to support and enhance our environmental and energy performance. Reporting directly to the Head of EHS, you will undertake environmental monitoring, manage the consents, permits, and statutory compliance requirements such as emissions testing and regulatory interface. Working with all departments on site to deliver environmental excellence, consistency in performance and compliance with both our EA permit and our environmental (ISO14001) and energy (ISO50001) management systems. Implementing continual improvement initiatives and striving for best practice (BAT). This is a key role in a growing business that requires a strong compliance background combined with good environmental knowledge and experience with the environment agency, EA permits and improvement conditions.Main Responsibilities:Manage all EHS systems and processes, training and supporting all departmentsTo own, maintain and develop policies in line with legislative requirements and best practice To ensure compliance with all relevant ISO standards management systems (ISO14001 and ISO50001) as well as any new ISO standards deemed appropriateEnsure the site is compliant with legislation, maintaining a working knowledge of all relevant environmental legislationMaintain all relevant environmental records in accordance with the legislation and management system requirements and support the energy management record keepingSupport departments creating and updating environmental risk assessments standard operating procedures (SOPs)To investigate major environmental incidents, reporting breaches of the environmental permit to the environment agency, and advise on improvements to reduce similar incidentsSupport departments with incident investigations within their areasManage the waste disposal compliance aspects of the site and ensure records are keptAdvise on specialist areas such as (but not limited to) environmental permitting, statutory testing/inspection requirements, convent limits and improvement conditions (IC’s)To drive the environmental culture and good practices, monitoring and reviewing staff behaviors, challenging poor environmental behaviors / practices Undertake Internal audits and assist with external audits to demonstrate compliance with relevant ISO StandardsTo create and manage good relationships with regulatory bodies in ensuring ongoing legal compliance (HSE, Environmental Agency, Local Council, etc.)Facilitate/chair/Attend Environmental, Health and Safety meetings throughout the business as well as attend relevant meetings with EHS topic or require supportResponsible for ensuring that environmental training requirements are understood and met, supporting delivery via internal or external methods, including toolbox talksAssist with conducting EHS inductionsEnsure compliance with all construction related regulations supporting project teamsUndertake other reasonable duties as requestedQualifications & Experience:NEBOSH Environmental Diploma or equivalent Knowledge and understanding of environmental legislation and application in practical termsAbility to communicate and influence effectively at all levels, driving all environmental aspects Detailed understanding of environmental permitting, consent and compliance requirements Experience in conducting a variety of environmental impact assessments Experience with ISO140001, leading external audits and conducting internal auditsGood IT skills competent with Microsoft softwareStrong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and respond to issues quicklyDesirable:Experience in a GMP, or HACCP-compliant manufacturing environmentFamiliarity with energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability practicesISO50001 (energy management) experience Experience managing borehole applications/licenses Working Conditions:Based on-site at a food manufacturing facilitySplit between office based and site/plant-based activitiesWorking within an EHS team consisting of Health and Safety Advisers/Administrator
