Job Description
KDC require an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Bournemouth based team to support the design of aircraft mission systems including air to air refuelling, electronic warfare pods and weapons carriage and release.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the KDC Team Lead and working alongside the customer’s team, the Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer will be required to carry out the following tasks:
- Support towards design and certification of parts and assemblies associated with air-to-air refuelling, electronic warfare pods and weapons carriage and release.
- Data and requirements capture
- Creation / modification of 3D models from conceptual designs through to DFM.
- Creation of 2D drawings as required.
- Liaison with customer design team and other departments; manufacturing, tooling etc.
- Full adherence to Quality processes to perform check and validation of all work.
- Participation in Design Reviews, including tracking and closure of actions.
- Clash detection analysis and reporting.
Essential skills and experience:
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical / Mechanical / Aeronautical Engineering or similar, or demonstrable relevant experience in lieu thereof.
- Previous experience in an aerospace/defence/high tech sector design role.
- Creo.
- MS Office.
- Good communication skills – verbal and written.
- Candidates must be British Nationals.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Good engineering experience in various factors of system engineering V diagram with an emphasis towards mechanical design.
- Experience in use of PLM system and an understanding of configuration control.
Essential Personal Qualities:
- An accomplished aerospace/defence/high tech sector design engineer with an organised structured approach to problem solving and task completion. Capable of working on your own or within a team of engineers, you will be expected to complete your allocated work on time and within budget. You will be experienced; enthusiastic; accountable and reliable.
