Location: Somerset Heritage Centre, Brunel Way, Norton Fitzwarren, Taunton, TA2 6SF and Yeovil

Hours: 22.2 hours per week

Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced professional with a passion for engaging audiences with heritage collections. In this role, you will develop and deliver an ambitious programme that connects the local community in Yeovil and South Somerset with the South Somerset Heritage Collections, while also providing oversight of the collections to Museum Accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deliver Museum Services for Yeovil Town Council.
  2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the South West Heritage Trust.
  3. Work closely with external stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be:

  1. An excellent communicator with significant experience in community engagement projects and programme management.
  2. Skilled at developing and maintaining strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  3. Knowledgeable in museum collections management with a good understanding of the Arts Council England Museum Accreditation Scheme.

The South West Heritage Trust is an independent charity which provides heritage services across Somerset and Devon. We run two Archive and Local Studies services and three museums, including the Museum of Somerset, and look after Somerset’s historic environment, including over 400 acres of historic landscapes.
