We are currently recruiting a Quality Technician, within our site at Minsterley. The Quality Technician will work as part of the QC team, responsible for ensuring that products meet the correct microbiological, physical and chemical specifications and are of the highest standards, prior to dispatch to our customers. Working collectively across both Microbiology and Analytical areas, in addition to supporting Operations in the resolution of ongoing Quality issues/investigation studies in factory/product to achieve Root cause.
The successful candidate should have a keen eye for detail and ability to work on own initiative, good communication skills; written & oral, ability to work both alone and as part of a team in a busy environment and have dairy experience. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and be looking for a career within quality.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct physical and chemical testing of products, semi-finished goods, utilities, chemicals and other elements as defined in the site QMP/EMP, and in accordance with approved testing standards.
- Sample schedule adherence, compliance, validation, verifications and maintenance within QMP/EMP.
- Ensuring that all required testing is completed, including routine and non-routine testing.
- Responsible for the management of the Daily Product Review (Taste Panel) to ensure samples are prepared for analysis and the resulting data logged accurately.
- Manage the collection, labelling and recording of any samples required for external analysis that cannot be conducted in-house, such as nutritional testing, allergen validation, pesticides, etc.
- General lab duties including cleaning, preparing reagents, cleaning glassware.
- Conduct microbiological testing of raw materials, products, semi-finished goods, utilities, environmental monitoring points and other elements as defined in the site QMP/EMP, and in accordance with approved testing standards.
- Confirmation and escalation of out of spec micro results in a timely manner, including contract lab results.
- Creation and completion of SP and micro complaint timelines, inputting all relevant results from days domed to EOL samples.
- Instigating & executing Microbiological investigations on a plant-wide basis.
- Collect & book in site water samples for external analysis.
- Annual shelf life verification of finished product.
- Manage the collection, labelling and recording of any samples required for external analysis that cannot be conducted in-house, such as pathogens, genome typing, validation, excess/additional micro testing beyond the capacity of the lab resource.
