Key Responsibilities

• Operational Excellence
  • Ensure all engineering activities are cost-effective and avoid repeat failures on equipment.
  • Participate in improvement initiatives and support operational performance aligned with business objectives.
  • Utilize problem-solving techniques to identify and eliminate inefficiencies and faults.
• Asset Management
  • Maintain and monitor assets using maintenance management systems to deliver planned and unplanned maintenance efficiently.
  • Ensure resources are deployed effectively to meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Work closely with team members and contractors to ensure smooth shift operations.
  • Actively participate in meetings to report on performance and address root causes of issues.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and coaching to team members, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Compliance and Safety
  • Adhere to health and safety standards and promote a strong safety culture on-site.
  • Report accidents, near misses, and equipment faults promptly.
  • Ensure protective equipment is used correctly and drive initiatives to improve safety performance.
  • Support the implementation of continuous improvement strategies to enhance operational excellence.
  • Look for opportunities to reduce energy consumption and minimize the site’s environmental impact.
• Food Safety and Quality
  • Ensure GMP standards are met, maintaining food safety, legality, and product integrity.
  • Support quality assurance processes and adhere to food hygiene regulations.
• Other Duties
  • Uphold animal welfare standards at all times.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as required by the role.

Skills and Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Strong fault-finding skills in both electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Basic understanding of PLC I/O systems.
• Experience with drives, motors, transmissions, and closed-loop feedback systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Experience in the food industry, particularly in processing or manufacturing.
• Certification in health and safety practices.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and programming VSDs.
• Fabrication skills and experience operating MEWPs.
