We are currently seeking to recruit a Sovereign Strategist to join our Emerging Markets Debt (EMD) team. Located in London, this individual will be primarily responsible for covering sovereign debt issuers and analyzing selected emerging markets across Central and Eastern Europe. This role will include macro analysis and forecasting, assessing political developments and governance trends, and evaluating debt sustainability and local market drivers.

As an active member of the EMD team, the Sovereign Strategist will be fully integrated into the investment process and will be expected to provide investment recommendations on both external and local debt while also communicating (in writing and verbally) with a broader group of Fixed Income and Equity investment professionals across the firm. Coverage will include both investment grade and below investment grade issuers.

  1. Investment Acumen and Passion – The Sovereign Strategist will have a deep understanding of emerging market economies and a strong interest in making investment recommendations. The ideal candidate must exhibit a fundamental, research-oriented approach with a focus on detail.
  2. Superior Collaboration Skills – The successful candidate will enjoy being an individual contributor within a highly collaborative team. The ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing) action-oriented opinions clearly and with conviction is important.
  3. Growth Mindset – Flexibility and openness to continue learning and evolving as an investor is required. The successful candidate will have a global perspective and a creative approach to thinking about innovation in the investment industry.

Other Qualifications

  1. Strong academic background, including an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Economics or International Finance.
  2. 5+ years of relevant Emerging Markets research experience, including experience covering the CEEMEA region.
  3. Demonstrated ability to employ quantitative modeling and research skills to assist in economic and market analysis.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  5. Ability to work well in a small, collaborative team while interacting with a broader group of investment professionals.
  6. Willingness and ability to travel.
