Your new role
As a Manufacturing Estimator, you will act as the primary liaison for customer cost enquiries, developing and providing quotes for both existing and new customers within the required timeframe. You will analyse engineering drawings and specifications to prepare detailed estimates for time, materials, overheads, and labour costs. Your role will involve consulting with various departments, including sales, purchasing, production, and customer accounts, to ensure accurate and timely estimates. You will also be responsible for maintaining up-to-date Bills of Materials (BOM), developing effective estimating methodologies, and assessing the cost-effectiveness of products by tracking actual costs relative to estimates. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with customers to meet urgent requirements and communicate with the Quality Engineer regarding any customer complaints.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need a minimum of two years of recent experience in estimating, with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with strong attention to detail and accuracy. You should have a technical mindset with the ability to manage numerical information effectively. Proficiency in MS Office packages and effective time management skills are also required. A background in manufacturing and relevant production life cycle experience would be advantageous.
