Company Overview: Our client is a leading force in delivering a wide range of civil engineering projects in partnership with Transport Scotland. From road maintenance and bridge repairs to advanced geotechnical and structural maintenance schemes, they are dedicated to excellence in maintenance, asset management, winter maintenance, and incident response across Scotland's strategic road network.

Role Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor (Commercial Manager) to join their commercial team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management of multiple projects, providing support to operational teams and contributing to the continued success of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Maximise valuations, ensuring timely certification and payment.
  • Support the CVR reporting process.
  • Manage contract variations promptly and efficiently.
  • Forecast costs and values across all trades.
  • Work closely with the operational team to secure labour, materials, and subcontractors, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Monitor on-site progress and issue necessary notices in line with contractual procedures and timescales.
  • Review quotations for compliance with specifications, ensuring the most competitive bids are obtained.
  • Prepare Final Accounts.
  • Accurately manage subcontractor accounts to optimise contract efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Experience working on highways and infrastructure projects is preferred.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience using key cost-based software packages.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
