NES Fircroft is recruiting a Research Scientist with a focus on Biocatalysis to join a leading agricultural company. This role is based at our client's site in Bracknell on a 12 month contract.

As a Research Scientist specialising in biocatalysis, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and optimising chemical transformations through the application of enzymes and microorganisms. This position will involve cross-functional cooperation, offering a unique opportunity to shape biocatalytic process development within an industrial setting.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Application and development of biocatalysis for chemical transformations
  • Reaction monitoring using assays such as UPLC and LC/MS to detect hits, intermediates and products
  • Enzyme evolution, preparation and scale-up

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • PhD in biocatalysis or a related discipline
  • Experience in biocatalytic retrosynthesis and developing biocatalytic transformations
  • Proficiency in organic synthesis and quantitative chemical reaction analysis
