We are looking for an entrepreneurial and collaborative Head of Co-editions to drive growth and develop strategy for the high performing illustrated rights team at Quadrille. We are looking for someone who will thrive in building deep relationships with publishing colleagues as well as external customers, with a clear vision to grow the co-edition business across the Quadrille lists and the ability to meaningfully contribute to broader initiatives with other senior rights colleagues in the wider PRH rights group.

Quadrille is a global, award-winning food and lifestyle publisher with an enviable catalogue of household names as well as trendsetting bright new talent in cookery, craft, lifestyle and gift. Known for combining cutting-edge design with inspiring content, Quadrille books have high production values and the co-editions business is very closely connected to the design and production teams. The team also represents foreign rights for the adult lists of award-winning independent publisher, Hardie Grant.

The opportunity

In this role you will be responsible for achieving excellent sales and handling important customer relationships for individual markets (to include Germany or France). You will develop the team’s foreign language sales strategy, including setting market targets for the books and ensuring the co-editions team is ambitious and organised in relation to travel, sub agent and title strategy. You’ll be responsible for the team’s print business, leading the team to deliver on print targets and unlocking new opportunities for growth.

You will work closely with the Quadrille imprints to help to develop the co-editions vision, direction and goals for each area of the business and you will also be responsible for evaluating the potential of new acquisitions and advising on publishing areas for international growth.

What you’ll bring

  • In-depth knowledge of the production and co-edition process, with considerable experience selling co-editions.
  • Awareness of the challenges facing the co-edition business, as well as opportunities for growth and substantial analytical ability and financial awareness including relevant experience of budgets and forecasting.
  • Highly sophisticated interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently connect, enthuse, influence, motivate and challenge key stakeholders within and outside the organisation.
  • An excellent negotiator with proven influencing skills and a track record of maximising sales and achieving major deals.
  • A supportive and motivational leader and a positive team player, able to empower the team to meet strategic goals whilst ensuring a high, professional standard as well building on a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations under pressure while delivering to deadlines or targets, showing adaptability and an appetite for calculated risk and managing change as well as the ability to develop others in this aspect.
