Responsibilities:
- Define and maintain technical standards for track and civil engineering assets, including functionality, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Lead the development, delivery, and implementation of the long-term strategic asset management plans for all track and civil engineering assets, including major lifecycle renewals and life extension works.
- Support the operator in developing annual maintenance plans and budget requirements.
- Proactively monitor the operator’s progress and performance, ensuring the maintenance activities are robust.
- Review and analyze asset information to identify trends and inform appropriate asset management practices and regimes.
- Produce scopes and specifications for designs and works in relation to track and civil engineering assets, including sourcing and management of other specialists as required.
- Provide reports on asset condition, operator performance, and supplier performance.
Requirements for this Track and Civils Manager role:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
- Professional qualification in a recognized engineering institution.
- Proven experience working in an engineering/asset management role within heavy or light rail.
- Proven expert knowledge and technical competence in a discipline relating to permanent way and/or civil engineering in light or heavy rail.
- Proven knowledge of the recognized and relevant associated standards, legislation, and specifications for light and heavy rail.
- Knowledge of the principles of ISO55000.
- Experience of working on a multi-disciplinary renewal program.
- Proven experience of implementing effective cost management and budget setting processes and principles.
- Ability to influence decision making, using information and analysis as appropriate.
- Proven record in risk management of track and/or civil engineering assets.
