BPO Operations – Director of Conduct Risk

Sigma Connected are looking for a Director of Conduct risk who will be crucial to the development of best-in-class offshore operations supporting our UK Financial Services sector clients.

This role will work collaboratively with internal and external client stakeholders from the SLT level to Operational managers. Working with our fast-growing Cape Town operation including operations, training, quality, analytics, resource planning, and implementation teams.

The Opportunity:

Job title: Director of Conduct Risk
Contract: Full-time permanent or Fixed Term Contract.
Start date: As soon as possible.

Core hours: Monday to Friday 9 am-6 pm

Where you work: This role requires the flexibility to be based in Cape Town for significant periods of time to support operational development. The initial requirement is 3 months based Offshore with further periods of travel required.

What Your Day-to-Day will Look Like:

  • You will utilise your subject matter expertise to embed an understanding of Conduct Risk and the relationship between regulatory requirements, client expectations, and our operational practices across our Cape Town Operations.
  • You will provide assurance, build client confidence, and add value through solutions-focused management of any risks and process changes.
  • You will have a deep understanding of the conduct risk landscape in the consumer credit sector and the ability to engage and influence Senior Managers responsible for Conduct Risk at our Clients to help shape strategy. You will develop operational solutions that deliver win-win outcomes to mitigate emerging risks and threats.
  • You will work closely with Sigma Connected’s executive team to enhance wider business awareness of conduct risks faced by our current and future clients, driving enhancements to our BPO solutions within the FS sector.
  • You will identify opportunities to enhance Sigma Connected’s existing Conduct Risk framework and propose solutions.
  • You will oversee the investigation and resolution of any conduct risk-related incidents and identify any business learning and changes required.
  • You will support Sigma Connected’s leadership team and be a key contributor to client governance activities including MBR’s, QBR’s and internal executive governance meetings.

What amazing People will bring to the role

You will…

  • You have 5+ years’ experience as a senior conduct risk professional in the UK financial services sector, ideally from a UK retail consumer credit background. You may hold professional certifications such as ICA Advanced Certificate in Conduct Risk or ICA Diploma in Governance Risk and Compliance.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the challenges associated with Outsourced activity; you may have experience working at a BPO or working alongside outsourced operations as a client of a BPO during your career. Experience working with Offshore teams is also desirable.
  • You are a compelling and authentic leader, with a collaborative working style and ability to create a positive, solutions-focused operational atmosphere.
  • You are a flexible and resilient individual with a can-do attitude. You are as comfortable working with C-Suite stakeholders as with operational leadership teams to drive change and deliver results.
  • Candidates may have experience in either First or Second Lines of Défense roles and will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the challenges of delivering fair customer outcomes across multi-site and operations of 200FTE+.
