Job Vacancy: Interim Commercial Lawyer (Railway Industry)
Location: London
Duration: Interim (3-6 months)
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
We are currently seeking an experienced Interim Commercial Lawyer with a strong background in the railway or Buses industry to support our clientβs legal team. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified lawyer to work on a variety of complex and high-profile projects within the public procurement, government contracts, and bidding sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal support on public procurement and government contracts within the railway sector.
- Advise on and assist with bidding processes, including internal bids and submissions for railway projects.
- Work on the legal aspects of railway extension projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts related to government and public sector projects including Joint ventures and Corporate M&A.
- Support the legal team in managing risk, ensuring effective contract governance, and maintaining compliance with procurement guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, commercial, and project management, to deliver legal advice that aligns with business objectives.
Key Requirements:
- 10+ years' PQE (post-qualification experience) in commercial law, with a focus on public procurement, government contracts, and bidding processes.
- Experience in the Transportation- railway sector, including involvement in railway extension projects and knowledge of related legal frameworks.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with a practical understanding of public sector procurement rules.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.
