Consultant Paediatrician (Community Child Health)
Consultant Paediatrician – Up to 10 PA’s. Part-time applications will be considered.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join our child development team based at the Chichester Child Development Centre, West Sussex. The Centre provides comprehensive multidisciplinary child development and disability services across the western part of West Sussex (including Arundel, Bognor Regis, and Midhurst).
This post is suitable for either Community Paediatric or Neurodisability Paediatricians, with the clinical role largely focused on children with neurodisability/neurodevelopmental disorders.
The team at Chichester is part of SCFT’s wider Child Development Service, consisting of three other CDCs. There are opportunities for joint working, professional development, and networking with over 15 consultant paediatric colleagues across the Trust.
Main Duties of the Job
This post is also open to paediatric trainees who will be within six months of CCT from the date of interview.

Job Responsibilities
We offer a friendly, welcoming, supportive, and experienced team environment ready to support the development of a newly qualified consultant, including encouragement to attend relevant training opportunities, or equally for a more experienced consultant seeking a new challenge. The post holder will be working in a beautiful part of the country, very close to Chichester Harbour, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is in the Cathedral City of Chichester with its renowned theatre and music and arts. There are fast train links to London and Gatwick Airport, and access to good schools locally.
Person Specification
Qualifications and/or Professional Registration
- Recognised Basic Medical Degree.
- MRCPCH or equivalent.
- Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice.
- Certificate of Completion of Training in Paediatrics or equivalent and Inclusion on the Paediatric Specialist Register (or within 6 months at time of interview).
- Recognised Child Protection Training (higher level).
- Relevant Higher Degree (e.g., MSc in Community Child Health, MD, PhD).
Experience
- At least two years of Higher Specialty Training in Community Child Health/Paediatric Neurodisability/Neurology or equivalent experience.
- Experience in the field of safeguarding/child protection.
- Experience of involvement in a research project and publication or published audit project.
- Experience of carrying out an audit project.
- Commitment to and experience of undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching.
Skills and Knowledge
