Principal Historic Environment Consultant

Location: Scotland

Our client is a market-leading multi-disciplinary consultancy specialising in Planning, Design, and the Environment. Their heritage services complement the multi-disciplinary planning, development, archaeology, and design services they offer. Building on their reputation for clear, practical, and commercially focused advice, they have continued to grow, and this is a great opportunity to take on a new challenge at the forefront of their expansion.

As part of the rapid expansion of their Historic Environment Team, they have an exciting opportunity available for an ambitious Historic Environment Consultant to join the team at a Principal Level. They are looking for experienced, enthusiastic, and driven consultants with a background in archaeology and heritage, who wish to further develop their careers on major development projects. This could be based out of their Edinburgh office or working remotely with some office attendance when required, but the roles would provide for flexible working.

  • They are looking for commercially aware, talented, and motivated individuals who are keen to take on new challenges and provide solid and consistent advice to clients.
  • Developing business as part of the company’s overall growth strategy both regionally and nationally will be central to the roles.
  • You will have an enthusiastic, independent, and proactive attitude to your work, and will undertake a range of responsibilities, including providing consultancy advice, producing and managing the production of desk-based assessments and heritage statements.
  • You will have experience of working as part of an EIA team, preferably for large-scale residential, commercial, and renewable energy schemes, including authoring Cultural Heritage Environmental Statements.
  • We are also looking for experience in providing proofs of evidence and written representations for planning appeals.
  • You will advise and work closely with other members of the wider team across disciplines.
  • An excellent understanding of relevant local and national planning policy and legislation is required. Experience at public inquiry level is desirable.

The roles will come with a generous salary, including discretionary bonuses, as well as a flexible working environment and fantastic opportunities for career progression.

The position will involve some travel; therefore, a full driving licence and access to a car are essential.
