Principal Solution Architect
Overview:
This position requires active DV Clearance due to the nature of the project.
What this person will be doing:

Empowering customers to overcome technical challenges while collaboratively crafting innovative solutions and shaping strategic technical vision and roadmaps.

Setting the technical standards for solution development within the team and ensuring that all solutions delivered meet client needs. Ensuring the team always delivers quality solutions.

Facilitating “Innovation Day” type workshops to accelerate Discovery and Alpha activities. Understanding stakeholder problems (both explicit and implicit) and offering potential solutions.

Working with stakeholders on bid activities.

Recruiting and inspiring technical staff, line managing the Solution Architect contingent, and providing necessary advice and support to help them realize their potential.

Influencing growth and delivery strategies, sitting within the Design Authority structure to ensure strategies are executed effectively.
Requirements:

Solid technical skills, sufficient to be credible when developing concept solutions and estimating the effort required for implementation.

Integrity to do the right thing by stakeholders, challenging groupthink or substandard solutions when necessary.

Acting as the technical face of the team, setting and enforcing technical standards via the Design Authority, ensuring quality and security are embedded into all products.

Inspiring, motivating, and supporting the team by embodying a can-do attitude, always looking for ways to add value and improve user experiences.

Broad understanding of technology platforms, particularly on-premise Kubernetes implementations and AWS architectural components, along with experience implementing development frameworks.

Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, especially for cloud-hosted solutions.

Estimating technical costs and development effort to support budgeting and bid activities.

Credibility to act as a point of escalation and advocate for the technical functions within the team, with the necessary experience, tact, and diplomacy to effectively line manage Solution Architects.

Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas to senior stakeholders.

Workshop facilitation skills to bring together diverse stakeholders and develop credible concepts.

Experience overseeing the containerization of third-party applications, migration from on-prem to cloud services (AWS predominantly), and managing software development teams.
Security Clearance: Due to the nature of projects, employees must be Security Cleared to a standard acceptable to Government customers. As a result, only candidates with the right to work in the UK without sponsorship and who have lived in the UK for the last 5+ years continuously can be considered.
