Job Description

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and results-driven leader to head our Issuing Outreach team within the Payment Performance pillar. Based in our London office, you will play a pivotal role in driving engagement with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders, including product, engineering, risk, commercial, card schemes and issuing banks globally. This role will lead the global Issuer Outreach team to prioritise and execute team initiatives with current and new issuing banks, ensuring timelines are being met and feedback/results are tracked and shared with the pillar.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Strategy:
    Develop and execute a strategic vision for the Issuing Outreach team in alignment with the broader goals of the Payment Performance pillar.
    Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing, globally distributed team.
    Advise the team on prioritising initiatives to drive the biggest impact.
  2. Stakeholder Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., product, engineering, risk, commercial) to identify and address challenges in payment performance and how the team can support resolution.
    Align issuing strategies with product development and innovation.
    Act as a bridge between commercial goals and operational realities, ensuring seamless execution of initiatives.
    Serve as the primary point of contact with senior leaders to keep them informed on the team\’s success, risks, and opportunities.
  3. Performance Optimisation:
    Analyse payment performance metrics and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
    Work with stakeholders to implement tailored solutions for tier 1 merchants and issuing partners.
  4. Thought Leadership:
    Represent Checkout.com at industry events, forums, and meetings with external partners.
    Stay ahead of industry trends and regulatory changes impacting payment performance and issuing practices.

Qualifications

About You:
We are looking for a strategic and collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You should be passionate about payments, have deep industry knowledge, and possess the ability to lead a diverse, cross-functional team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. 10+ years proven experience in payments, financial technology, or a related industry, ideally in a leadership or senior management role.
  2. Outstanding analytical skills and strong business insight, with the ability to break down complex information into clear, concise, and actionable insights.
  3. Strong understanding of payment performance dynamics, including issuing bank relationships, fraud detection, risk management, payment acceptance/authentication.
  4. Demonstrated ability to manage and influence internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with senior-level partners.
  6. Proven ability to build, develop, and scale high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and success.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Experience working in a global, multicultural environment.
