We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Salaried GP to join our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) team at Lewes Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a well-equipped, multi-disciplinary environment, providing high-quality urgent care to patients in Lewes and surrounding areas.

As part of our team, you will assess and manage urgent cases, collaborate closely with healthcare professionals, and make a meaningful impact in delivering patient-centered care. The UTC handles a wide range of urgent but non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses.

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic professional with broad experience in urgent and primary care, excellent communication skills, and a passion for quality improvement.

Main duties of the job

  1. Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
  2. Record clinical activity accurately and comprehensively.
  3. Participate in service and business planning activity for the team.
  4. Attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust as appropriate to the role, including the monthly departmental academic meetings, Medical Education Afternoons and Grand Rounds as part of the internal CPD programme.
  5. Participate annually in a job plan review as set out in the Trust policy on this area.
  6. Comply with the UTC and Trust’s agreed policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions, and to take an active role in the financial management of the service for own area of work.
  7. Recognise and take responsibility for safeguarding children, young people and adults, using appropriate systems for identifying, sharing information, recording and raising concerns, obtaining advice and taking action.

Applicants must have valid registration with the GMC, License to Practice and entry on the NHS Performers List.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified doctor with GMC registration and Licence to Practice.
  • Registered on the GMC GP Register and Performer List.
  • Membership of Royal College of General Practitioners – MRCGP.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Experience

  • Broad experience in management of patients in urgent care settings and primary care.
  • Experience of working in a multi-professional team and taking full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
  • Experience of quality improvement activity and service development.
  • Evidence of commitment to teaching and training in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Other

  • Ability to travel to meet the requirements of the job.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Awareness of potential abuse factors and Safeguarding mechanisms.
  • Ability to use IT and standard Microsoft and clinical software.
  • Positive approach to job planning and appraisal process.
