Are you passionate about Orthopaedic and Trauma care?

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen within our department. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and confident individual who has excellent clinical and communication skills to join our team of Orthopaedic Practitioners here at Raigmore Hospital in the Plaster Room as a band 6 (30hrs).

Ideally, candidates would hold a British Casting Certificate from the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA), but this is not essential. Candidates working as a Staff Nurse in an Emergency Department, Minor Injuries unit, Orthopaedic ward/theatre, or an MSK Physiotherapist will gladly be considered, as training can be given in post.

The team treats patients of all ages, referred from the Emergency Department, Outpatient clinic, and inpatient ward settings. The main aspect of the job involves:

  1. Application and removal of casts in different materials
  2. Application of specialised splints and braces
  3. Some Orthotic devices
  4. Wound care/management
  5. Patient education

Candidates will also be required to participate in running our Virtual Fracture Clinic review service and helpline.

To summarize, we are seeking an individual who is dynamic, patient-centred, hardworking, values teamwork, and can work autonomously with excellent time management and good interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should be actively involved in the education and development of themselves and others in relation to Orthopaedic care.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
