Job overview
The Covid Medicine Delivery Unit (CMDU) at St George’s hospital is a service that offers covid therapies to highly vulnerable patients. CMDU offers a remote triaging service and pharmacy delivery for oral medication and an onsite ambulatory infusion unit for those that are ineligible for oral medication.
In addition to CMDU, the unit is also an Infusion Service providing infusion treatments and therapies to patients in an outpatient setting. These treatments include biologics therapies, antibiotics, and iron infusions. This list is not exhaustive.
Main duties of the job
- Assessing patients and being confident in venepuncture and cannulation.
- Supporting junior staff and students.
- Manage the department in the absence of the Lead nurse.
- Support and deal with patients, parents, relatives, and caregivers, being sensitive to their needs for dignity, privacy, and ensuring a friendly environment.
- Keeping accurate documentation.
- Escalating concerns if a patient is unwell.
