Job Overview
Consultant Rheumatologist
Permanent post in the Rheumatology Department at Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The department is part of an integrated care organisation that collaborates closely with the University of Manchester, other rheumatology centres in the North West Deanery and local primary care teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality rheumatology service across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Lead and develop early arthritis, giant cell arteritis and fracture liaison pathways.
- Supervise junior doctors and contribute to medical education.
- Champion service improvement projects and audit initiatives.
- Collaborate with tertiary centres to optimise patient pathways.
- Support flexible working arrangements, including weekend and evening commitments.
Essential Qualifications
- Full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid licence to practise.
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register or admission to the Register within 6 months of interview.
- Primary medical qualification (MB ChB, MBBS, etc.).
- MRCP UK or Ireland and MRCP Rheumatology.
- Wide experience in rheumatology and evidence of clinical governance, audit and research involvement.
- Experience teaching juniors, medical students or other health‑care professionals.
- Appropriate Home Office status to undertake a career post in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications
- Post‑graduate degree.
- Evidence of peer‑reviewed publications.
- Research skills demonstrating understanding of methodology and commitment to publications.
Salary & Contract
Salary: ÂŁ109,725 to ÂŁ145,478 per annum (Hospital Medical and Dental staff scheme).
Grade: Consultant
Contract: Permanent – Full time (10 Programme Activity job plan). Flexible part‑time and weekend working arrangements are considered.
