Contract Length: until 31/03/2026

Location: Hybrid – Whitehall (Inner London)

  • Induction onsite (London) potentially for 10 days, then hybrid. Candidate must be local to London.
  • Office attendance 1-3 days per week, minimum, on site, as required for business needs.
  • No travel expenses – Candidates need to be local to Whitehall.

The Defence Afghan Relocation and Resettlement (DARR) Directorate is a new organisation set up to manage the process for supporting eligible Afghans who supported the UK mission in Afghanistan over the past 20 years to come to the UK, and once here to be assisted to begin their new lives with their families. It is important and rewarding work, supporting one of Defence’s highest priorities and reports directly into the Permanent Secretary.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Experience analysing complex information from multiple sources, with keen eye for attention to detail.
  • Experience in using government policy to make decisions.
  • Experience of working to strict policies and procedures.
  • Ability to clearly articulate and justify decisions based on policy.
  • Experienced in working to tight deadlines in high pace and sensitive operational environment.
  • Delivering at pace – daily targets for cases.
  • Previous Casework Experience.
  • Experience of problem solving.
  • Stakeholder Management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of Data Protection.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and written skills, understanding of English, especially written.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, PP, Excel, Teams etc.).
  • Exposure to graphic/disturbing material and stories. Requirement to discuss up front with candidates to ensure they are resilient and ok with this.
  • Ideally need candidates who are in similar roles.
