Embedded Electronic Systems Design & Development Engineer (Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship)
Start date: September 2025
Location: Great Baddow, Chelmsford
Role Profile
You will undertake a Degree Apprenticeship in Embedded Electronic Systems Design and Development, experiencing the academic part of the programme in the form of a BEng degree undertaken at Essex University, and spending the ‘vacations’ working in our engineering teams at Great Baddow.
You will develop the skills to design and develop state-of-the-art software, firmware, or electronics while working with bright, enthusiastic, and committed people in one of our small client-focussed engineering teams.
Who Are We Looking For?
- Highly motivated with a strong academic background in STEM subjects at A level or equivalent, this can be BTEC, Advanced Apprenticeship, or Degree.
- An interest or experience in space-related subjects
- An aptitude for problem-solving and expanding knowledge
- Broad interest in electronics technology
- Ability to learn quickly and sometimes working to challenging deadlines
Entry Requirements
- A minimum of 96 UCAS points gained via STEM A-Level qualifications or equivalent (e.g., BTEC)
- Plus, at least 5 GCSEs at grade A*- C / Level 4-9, including Mathematics, English, and ICT.
- Eligible for a Government Security Clearance

Security Clearance
Only those with the permanent and unrestricted right to live and work in the UK will be considered for a position within BAE Systems Digital Intelligence. Due to the nature of our work, successful candidates for this role will be required to go through Government SC clearance prior to starting with us.
