Overview

Professional Technical are currently seeking an Area Lead Engineer to work for a leading Automotive Manufacturer based in the East Midlands area. We are looking to talk to individuals who have a passion for the motor industry whether motorbikes or cars and proven experience in the automotive industry.

As an Area Lead Engineer, you will take responsibility for the delivery of the Design and Development of various components on a motor vehicle, ensuring adherence to time, cost, quality, and specification constraints and providing leadership to Senior Design Engineers.

Responsibilities

Deliver the Design and Development of components including chassis and powertrain functions, consulting with Specialists and Chief Engineers as needed.
Ensure timely delivery of components in line with allocated time frames, costing, quality and specifications both directly and through leadership of your team.
Plan for package delivery and provide leadership to the Design Engineers, Senior Design Engineers and Package Lead Engineers reporting directly to you.
Communicate and collaborate across the supply/value chain to maximise team effectiveness.
Contribution to the creation and maintenance of detailed project plans to ensure both current and future deliverables are met
Escalate concerns, risks, and issues through the reporting chain.
Mentor, coach and support the development of direct reports including performance management and provide constructive feedback to develop your team.
Stand in for Functional Leads when required.
Undertake and assist with projects as required by your Manager.
Perform any other ad-hoc duties as required by your Manager.

Qualifications

Bachelor\’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Advanced user of CREO and surface modelling.
Proven leadership experience in design and development of components, preferably in the automotive or motorcycle industry.
Strong technical and detail-oriented focus.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work within time, cost, quality, and specification targets.
