A bit about us:

Liverpool City Council Children and Young People’s Service is on an exciting journey, and the recently created Children’s Workforce Academy is at the forefront of driving high-quality practice across the holistic children’s practice system.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Workforce Development and Learning portfolio, within the Children’s Workforce Academy, for an experienced and enthusiastic practitioner to join a newly created service delivering a revised offer to children and young people around participation, promoting voice and engagement.

This newly created post will be pivotal in the delivery of future services as we continually develop our offer to children and young people and forms part of our continued improvement activity in driving strength-based, relational, and collaborative practice in our work with children, young people, and their networks.

The role:

You will need to develop, co-ordinate, and directly contribute to the delivery of youth voice and creative engagement activity and programme of opportunities within a range of settings. This role will support the improved offer which includes:

  • An improved Participation offer to all children and young people via the Mind of My Own App.
  • An improved Participation Model which will include the development and delivery of various support groups for children and young people across our practice system.
  • An improved Children in Care offer which is open and accessible to all children Looked After by the local authority.
  • An improved relationship with our voluntary sector to ensure we enter a partnership to co-deliver services to children, young people, and their networks across the region.
  • The development of a Young Ambassador offer, to support the children and young people help shape service development and service delivery.
  • The development of an effective Family Voice and Family Feedback across the holistic practice.

About you:

  • You will contribute to the change in culture agenda within the Children and Young People’s Service to help embed and promote a culture that leads to high quality and impact-focused outcomes for children, young people, and their families.
  • You will be required to work with service leads, front line managers, and frontline practitioners to agreed outcome-focused requirements in driving up practice across the Directorate.
  • You will demonstrate good experience of front-line practice, within a children’s practice system, with an ability to identify what good practice looks like.
  • You will have advanced working knowledge of childcare legislative framework, strength-based, restorative-based approaches, as well as relational-based practice.
  • You will have great attention to detail with the ability to interrogate and analyse complex information with good accuracy.
  • You will need to hold a degree qualification in health, education and/or social care and/or have experience of working within a statutory or voluntary setting.
  • You will also be able to demonstrate a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently, with skills in working within timescales and with conflicting priorities.
