What you’ll do

As a Senior Architect at Sainsbury’s Tech, you will play a crucial role in planning and defining the technical roadmap for your area. Working closely with your teams, you will shape and design new products and services that align with our architectural principles. You will be creating cloud-native designs for complex projects, iterating existing components, and designing new systems from a clean slate.

Collaborating with Senior Engineering Managers, you will develop and communicate the technical architecture, roadmap, and strategy for your area. Additionally, you will influence teams within your domain to prioritise and build components that add the most value, while also driving the adoption of our technology principles.

Being an integral part of the architecture community of practise, you will share your expertise, contribute innovative design ideas, and promote collaboration and innovation across teams. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the technology landscape, staying informed about industry and retail developments, applying modern engineering techniques and cloud-native design principles, building trust and credibility, and delivering results with a focus on problem-solving and collaboration.

  • Guide and advise on the overall integration architecture of multiple services. This will include both SAAS and in house applications within the HR and Labour Management space. We work closely with Oracle, UKG and Cornerstone who provide the bulk of our SAAS products

  • Provide direct and continuous support for the modernisation and simplification of the integration architecture in-line with Sainsburys Tech Principles.

Who you are

As a Senior Architect in Sainsbury’s Tech, you are a seasoned professional with deep expertise in designing and implementing roadmaps and strategies. You possess a comprehensive understanding of the technology landscape and stay updated on the latest developments in architecture and modern engineering practises, particularly in the context of cloud-native design.

With your strong influencing and communication skills, you are able to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including product managers and engineering teams, to shape and deliver innovative solutions that align with the overall architectural vision.

Your ability to think holistically and consider multiple viewpoints allows you to come up with creative solutions to complex technical problems. As a driven individual, you constantly strive for self-improvement and actively contribute to the inclusive and diverse culture of Sainsbury’s Tech.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Computer or Software Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • At least 3 years of experience in delivery or support of Integrations involving any SAAS products.

  • At least 3 years of experience in Cloud Technologies such as Oracle Cloud, Azure Cloud, AWS Cloud for Integration design and delivery

  • At least 2 years of experience in design and delivery of integration solutions using Event Streaming solutions such as KAFKA

  • Knowledge of data solution design and data modelling, as well as agile methods and processes

  • Experience in working with multiple engineering teams working across different countries, suppliers and stakeholders to collaborate and drive change
