Goodman Masson is partnering with The Royal Parks to recruit a permanent Financial Controller.

The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charity managing over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, including habitats, historic buildings, and monuments across eight Royal Parks in London: Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent's Park, Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park, and Bushy Park. They also oversee other important public spaces such as Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. These parks attract approximately 77 million visitors annually, making them among the UK's most visited attractions.

The Financial Controller will oversee statutory accounts production, audits, tax, treasury management, and transactional processing. You will lead, develop, and motivate a team of 7 staff (including 3 direct reports), ensuring excellent customer service and accurate financial control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set strategic direction for the Financial Control team, aiming to improve processes and service delivery.
  • Lead the production of annual accounts and manage the audit process.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all ledgers are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory financial requirements and timely submission of returns (e.g., VAT, Corporation Tax, Charities’ SORP, Charity Commission guidance).
Candidate Requirements
  • Fully qualified accountant.
  • Experience in finance functions within medium to large charities.
  • Proven experience in leading, motivating, and developing a high-volume transactional processing team.
Remuneration and Benefits

Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 depending on experience. Benefits include:

  • 26 days' annual leave plus public holidays, increasing to 29 days after 3 years of service.
  • Pension scheme (3% employee contribution; up to 10% employer contribution).
  • Private medical insurance and healthcare cash plan.
