REPORTING TO: Senior Design Manager

As the GRAHAM business continues to grow and develop, we are looking for an enthusiastic Graduate Pre-Construction Design Manager to join the team on one of our large projects on the National MOD Framework. The successful candidate will work on the project providing support to our existing Design Management Team. Good technical knowledge, creative thinking and team working are essential components of the job role. This role requires security clearance , which we can facilitate if necessary.
Job Description
As a Graduate Design Manager, you will be working with one of our experienced Design Managers to assist in overseeing different aspects of our projects while developing your own understanding. The suitable candidate will have a degree in Architectural Technology or Construction Management and will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and be able to work as part of a team.
The Graduate Design Manager will:
- Understand the design process and its intricacies.
- Support the management of the design process, emphasising buildability and efficiency.
- Assist in managing a detailed design and procurement programme, considering all design interdependencies linked to construction activities. Monitor and report on the design programme regularly.
- Maintain a detailed Information Release Schedule.
- Participate in regular design and technical meetings to ensure the design aligns with budget, programme, and technical constraints.
- Investigate and analyse alternative specifications to ensure compliance and equivalency with contract requirements.
- Manage the RFI process efficiently.
- Oversee the flow of design information.
- Prepare and update the Design Workbook regularly.
- Assist in preparing the design aspects of subcontract tender enquiry packages as needed.
- Manage the discharge of statutory conditions (e.g., Building Control, Planning, NHBC, Secure by Design). Coordinate BREEAM and Code for Sustainable Homes requirements.
- Undertake any other duties which may be required by management.

Technical Competencies
Essential
- Degree in Architecture / Construction Management or similar from a University or technical college.
- Demonstrate an excellent IT knowledge minimum Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Demonstrate an understanding of construction management practices.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills.
Desirable
- Health & Safety Induction Including Management System CSR/SAFEPASS/CSCS Card.
- Interact with other members of the construction site team (Design Team).
- Previous experience of working in a consultancy practice.
- Demonstrate previous experience or knowledge of working onsite.
