THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to appoint a 2nd Line Field Engineer to join a busy IT team serving multiple site locations across the North East and North West of England. The role itself will be based out of Gateshead but will involve travel and supporting sites remotely. You will support the continuity of service for all IT equipment and services across the business. The successful candidate will resolve support tickets and provide support to the operations team by visiting various sites or providing remote support.
Day to day, this will consist of troubleshooting software and hardware, a crucial part of this role would be ensuring that objectives are achieved whilst adhering to security protocols. This will involve working closely with third party customers and suppliers in addition to managed service providers who maintain some services.
THE ROLE
- Visiting different site locations within the business
- Monitoring the helpdesk and resolving IT issues efficiently
- Triaging tickets and following escalation procedures
- Following and maintaining documentation
- Configuring and rolling out machines for new and existing users
- Supporting users to use Windows 10/11 and Office 365 effectively and resolving any issues
- Upgrading or repairing hardware when required
- Installing, configuring and supporting a variety of printers and drivers
- Supporting the use of iPhones and Android devices
- Supporting CCTV systems
- Procuring hardware and software as required
- Adhere to company Health and Safety procedures
- Create clear and accurate documentation
- Some work on evenings and weekends may be required
THE PERSON
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate at least 3 years IT experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A working understanding of network and data security
- An ability to manage workload and prioritise urgent items accordingly
- Ability to work within a team and be adaptable to variety of end-user and project-related support
- Ability to advise, guide, and communicate technical issues to non-technical staff
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and apply best practices to existing technology solutions
- Full driving license
- Advantageous:
- Experience of working within manufacturing environments
- Understanding of PLC networks, Operational Technology and remote support for factory systems
- Experience and qualifications in IT networking, understanding of VPNs, Firewalls, VLAN and routing
- Understanding of ITIL and Project Management strategies
- Experience and qualifications with Microsoft365, including Intune and Azure
- Experience of training others within an IT team
