An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Deputy Team Leader to join the Surgical Speciality Theatre Team at The Leicester General Hospital.
The Leicester General Hospital provides a comprehensive Surgical Speciality Service to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Surgical speciality surgeries offered at this site include and are not limited to: Robotic, Urogynae, cancer (major & minor).
The successful applicant may be required to cover other theatre areas as needed. Obstetrics & Emergency theatre at the LGH is a 24/7 (Long days & Nights) and the Emergency Theatre is also a 24/7 service (Mon-Fri late: 12-10 followed by o/c until 8am next day, Sat/Sun day shift 8-6 followed by o/c until 8am next day), so out of hours work will be required.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate that they have high level organisational skills including time management, the ability to confidently prioritise and organise clinical and managerial responsibilities.
They will also be expected to participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the team, including supporting and developing junior and new members of the team; and be committed to delivering a high quality service to ensure patient care, safety and experience is the best it can be.

Key Responsibilities:
- To be a visible clinical expert, leading on a day to day basis; providing direction and effective and inspirational leadership to all members of the multi disciplinary team within the area of responsibility.
- Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of evidence based care to patients.
- Leadership and supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the caring process.
- Deputise and take charge of the given area regularly in the absence of the Team Leader who has 24hour accountability and responsibility.
- Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the team.
- Actively contribute to the improvement of services and the quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families.
- Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff.
