Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, with an expertise in mechanical actuation systems and hydraulics, to join our newly established Innovation and Advanced Development division of our dynamic, multidisciplinary R&D department.
The Role
As Lead Mechanical Design Engineer β Hydraulics, you will clearly interpret our medical device requirements and take full responsibility for originating innovative design. You will develop complex CAD geometry, concurrently performing or overseeing digital simulations. You will join a comprehensive team delivering medical devices suitable for economic manufacture.
Key duties:
- Designing and implementing hydraulic actuator systems including valve & motor control solutions according to the technical requirements.
- Generating and evaluating detail engineering CAD geometry, demonstrating accurate design intents, simulating dynamic motion, limits/fits and accurately defining methods of manufacture.
- Liaising with Systems engineering and clinical partners to capture user requirements, executing work packages inside our product verification and validation procedures.
- Originating and maintaining risk management documentation (ISO 14971), collaborating at design and project review meetings, comfortable presenting technical data, with recommended actions.
- Producing and maintaining technical documentation, in accordance with ISO 13485, FDA and an excellent understanding of the MDR requirements.
- Analysing technical requirements, evaluating different approaches and supporting the selection of suitable technologies, materials and components.
What are we looking for?
Key Skills & Experience:
- Essential: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience operating within a CAD environment.
- Experience operating within a safety critical or highly regulated industry.
- Extensive experience of designing hydraulic actuator systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, comfortable operating in a fast-paced matrix organisation.
