Position Overview:

Our client, who provides essential inspection activities to some of the largest national and international Companies involved in the food and drink industries, is looking to recruit a field-based trainee inspection engineer.

Although the head office is based in Swindon, this company carries out inspection activities at client sites throughout the UK and increasingly overseas. This role will, therefore, include regular travel and some overnight stays. In some instances, there is also the chance to attend trips overseas.

The role:

  • Attend clients’ sites to carry out inspection
  • Follow our test instructions and quality procedures
  • Set up equipment in accordance with our inspection procedures at client’s premises
  • Abide by all Health and Safety standards through proficient use of risk assessments and method statements
  • Prepare reports and certificates detailing results and findings
  • Discuss findings and results with clients
  • Help maintain inspection equipment and carry out calibration checks

About you:

  • Be a conscientious, responsible, proactive, very reliable individual with good timekeeping and a can-do attitude
  • Sound knowledge of all MS Office applications
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Must be able to work on their own, as well as be a good team player.
  • Ability to work at height, climb ladders, scaffold, and access platforms. There is restricted access to some of the items we examine, therefore the ability to work in confined spaces is essential. (Full safety training will be given)
  • Willingness to travel both in the UK and abroad
  • The role requires a willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and some night shifts.
  • Essential Requirements:
    Educated to GCSE grade A-C in Maths and English / A Level.
  • A full UK driving license, Valid Passport
  • Good eyesight, and not colour blind, due to the requirements of the role.

Salary: £25,500 + Overtime (Post Training & Experience £36K + Performance Bonus)
Location: Swindon + UK/Overseas Travel
Hours: Full Time Permanent Mon-Fri 9-5
Holiday: 20 Days Holiday + BH (Increases to 30 days after 3 years service)
