We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of multiple non-infrastructure projects within our Raw Water Deterioration Programme, with project values up to £40 million+. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the projects are delivered safely on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
In this role, you will collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders, managing every phase of the project lifecycle, from concept to handover. You will ensure that health and safety remain a top priority, while maintaining effective communication, leadership, and management across all project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety Leadership: Promote and prioritize health and safety at all times, ensuring the safety of team members, contractors, and the public.
- Project Ownership: Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring seamless delivery in accordance with timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
- Project Management: Develop and maintain comprehensive Project Management Plans, ensuring progress is monitored, risks are mitigated, and corrective actions are implemented as needed.
- Contract Administration: Administer contracts in line with NEC3 and NEC4 guidelines, ensuring compliance and effective management of contractor relationships.
- Risk and Issue Management: Identify, manage, and mitigate risks throughout the project, ensuring robust governance procedures are adhered to.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
- Reporting & Governance: Provide regular status updates, management reports, and ensure adherence to Affinity Water’s governance and approval processes.
- Tender and Contract Management: Write specifications, tender documents, and contracts, and ensure formal assessment of tenders in readiness for award.
Person Specification:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of experience managing construction projects and suppliers –
- Experience in administering New Engineering Contracts (NEC)
- Strong commercial management experience
- Working knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
- APM Project Fundamentals Qualification or equivalent
- APM PMQ
- Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil engineering, or project management
- Chartered or near Chartered status with a relevant institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE, IChemE)
Skills and Competencies:
- Deep understanding of project management principles and processes
- Ability to lead and inspire project teams, both on-site and remotely
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with cloud-based contract management platforms (Asite)
- Familiarity with project planning tools like MS Project or Primavera
