We are currently recruiting for a Contracts Manager to join our fantastic team working on the Pavement Delivery Framework project of works for Areas 7 & 9. The role is based from our Tarmac Mountsorrel offices between Loughborough and Leicester and will cover the region from Birmingham to North Lincolnshire. The role is easily commutable from Leicester, Loughborough, Birmingham, Coventry, Melton Mowbray, Derby, Nottingham, Burton-upon-Trent, Rugby, Ilkeston, Grantham, Mansfield, Worksop, Chesterfield, Lincoln and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you as the Contracts Manager will be required to manage projects across Areas 7 & 9 for the successful and continued delivery of the Pavement Delivery Framework.

Your day to day interactions will be with National Highways, Tarmac Colleagues, CRH Colleagues and Partnered companies involved in delivering the Framework. You will have experience working in a similar role on Motorways or High Speed Roads.

Responsibilities of the role (not exhaustive):

  1. Contribute to the creation of; and work closely with the Operations Manager for the effective delivery of the Framework
  2. Oversee and manage the program or works, planning of contracts, current and new schemes, maintenance response and bidding
  3. Maintain and develop customer relationships and optimising sustainable financial contribution within set targets and in accordance with regional targets and company policy, process and procedure
  4. Ensure full compliance with safety and business policies and procedures
  5. Ensure the effective allocation of operational resources and drive best practice and continuous improvements across the Framework
  6. Providing leadership, mentoring, guidance and direction to the Operational teams to ensure that all stated objectives, aims and targets are achieved
  7. Manage external relationships with both our customers, local authorities and governing bodies
  8. Secure new business opportunities in the growth of Tarmac
  9. Continuously review and improve methods to reduce materials and waste on sites, and manage control of any remedial action required
  10. Contracting Methods – knowledge of contracts methods and up to date knowledge of specifications and contracts

In the role you will be in liaison with stakeholders across the business, ranging from – National Highways Partners – Client Partners – General Managers – Commercial Managers – Quantity Surveyors – Estimators – Accounts – Production – Technical – Distribution – HR

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role of Contracts Manager , you as the ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position within the Pave, Highways, Surfacing, Contracting, Aggregates, or Quarrying sector. You will also be able to demonstrate proven experience working within a global company or a similar environment as a Contracts Manager ; as well as possess exemplary management, leadership, and communication skills.

Specific Requirements:

  1. ESSENTIAL – Management Qualification – ILM / NEBS / NVQ4
  2. A Degree in a role related discipline would prove highly beneficial
  3. CSCS Qualification
  4. SMSTS qualification
  5. NEBOSH (desirable)
  6. Largely qualified by experience relating to industry standards and/or possess good Higher Education Achievement (HND/HNC Level)
